MISSION
Special Education Lawyer Kristin Totten has a mission to protect and enforce the rights of children with disabilities and parents of such children. She does this by ensuring that all children with disabilities that she serves receive a free appropriate public education (FAPE) that emphasizes special education and related services designed to meet the child's unique needs and prepare him/her for further education, employment, and independent living.

PHILOSOPHY
Children's Advocacy Resources for Education was established to protect the rights of children with disabilities and to ensure the effectiveness of efforts to educate them.
Legal protections are only as good as the enforcement of them.  In her experience as a Civil Rights Attorney, Kristin Totten has strived to raise awareness of the laws Congress has enacted to protect the vulnerable and marginalized and to ensure that they are adhered to.  Each child has the potential to flourish, and the educational system is to respond to the unique needs of a child with a disability and assist them in their capacity to do so.  It would be Kristin's honor to walk with you on this journey to navigate the educational terrain in the best interest of your child.  Not every child is to follow the same direction, and it takes knowledge, sensitivity, and courage to chart a new course.
